In late 2020, BUOC started the Man Academy , a BUOC program, in Winston Salem. The Center is the first step in life-changing treatment for young people ages 6 to 17 that are experiencing a mental health crisis. This program is giving youth the opportunities to come receive in assistance when dealing with mental health situations. Tournament support will help a child navigate a crisis and return to home and school as quickly as possible. It will help a family find the tools it needs to help a teenager recover from mental illness and it will ensure these critical services are available to all kids and families, regardless of ability to pay.
Man Academy (Adult) Day Program and Fit to Shine program BUOC’s Day Programs provide individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities a place where they have access to supportive services, life-skill-building and learning activities, social interaction and community involvement. Along with providing a different approach to adults with disabilities that have severe behaviors and the typical day program not working. Program participants engage in daily activities like recreation games, nutrition, baking and cooking, exercise dance, gardening, local volunteering, technology programs, and educational classes. The programs provide safe, engaging, community-focused opportunities for individuals with disabilities.
Your support changes lives! Proceeds from Minds Shine Bright Tournament support programs and services for over hundreds of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities, mental illness and underserved communities of color.
